The previous title was Al-Azhar University Journal of Virus Researches and Studies with print ISSN: 1687-4218 and Online ISSN: 2636-2813 from 2005 to 2024, starting from August 2024 the title is changed to Al-Azhar University Journal of Medical and Virus Researches and Studies with Print ISSN: 3009-7819 and Online ISSN: 3009-6685.

The journal aims to: 

• Encourages research that contributes significantly to the advancement of knowledge in microbiology and immunological applications. 
• Helping to find a cure for various viral diseases that deepen diagnosis, which causes diseases affecting humans, animals, and plants. 
• The journal also contributes to the enrichment of viral genetics, a study of inherited genes found in genes responsible for viral infections such as the doubling of the structure of the genome and some proteins that play an important role in causing viral disease.
